    Nissan Altima Timing Belts
Does the 2001 Nissan Altima have a timing belt or a timing chain and what is the required maintenance for it?

    Hi,
    Fact:
The Nissan Altimas {'93-'01} have a timing chain and are meant to last the life of the motor with no maintenance required.
'93-'97 models uses a double row chain, models since '98 use a single row
    Chain.

Does nissan Altima 2.5 S , 2006 has timming belt or chain? IF it does either when has to be replaced before it damages the engine?

First, you have a timing chain.
Second: IF the chain did fail, there would be engine damage.
There is no inspection nor maintanance interval so unless your's happens to be stretched and/or noisy, there isn't much to do.
