    Mapped Network drive working slow
    Hi,

We are having a workgroup network (LAN).
We have put one computer as a file server.
That computer drive is mapped on my computer and others.
What ever the work we do it is done on that computer through mapped drive.
It was fine till yesterday, now it get very slow to open any mapped network drive on my computer.Others computer are working very fine.

It takes 2-3 minutes. To open mapped drive.
Then any file on that drive like Excel or Word , it takes another 5-7 minutes to open.
And a lot of time is been taking to save any file , even if it is on 3-10 kb.

It was not like that before.
I have reinstall the TCP-IP of LAN connection but no use.
I have scanned computer twice with two different antivirus. So no virus issue too.
    Any suggestion, please help.

This is tough to trouble-shoot. It's usually caused by something that is continually accessing the mapped drive -- often without success. Open "My Network Places" and delete anything in there that is referencing the mapped drive.

Also, I suggest you disconnect the network drive and access it directly (Start | Run | \\nameoripaddress\share. That may solve the problem you're having.

There were likely some problems on your PC that were unreleated to your network connection. Make sure that your computers on your network are all protected with updated anti-virus programs and operating system updates. I would assume that all of you are sharing a single Internet connection so look into some basic firewall protection for your router as well. Some routers will allow you to set up basic firewalls and filtering.
