Auto-reply functionality is normally provided by a mail server and not mail client software such as Outlook. If you are using Outlook in a corporate environment and using Microsoft Exchange Server, see How to use the Out of Office Assistant in Outlook or contact your company's IT department. Otherwise, contact your Internet service provider to see if they offer this feature. Many ISPs expose this functionality through their webmail or other web based interface.

Another possible solution, although not particularly robust, is switching to a mail client that offers this feature (such as Thunderbird via message filters; see Thunderbird FAQ: Using Templates ), leaving the computer running 24/7, and configuring the client to check messages periodically.
