    Claiming the kids on taxes
My ex bf has the legal right (court order) to claim our twins on his taxes. It was granted to him years ago when I wasn't working. I recently modified support and asked to be able to claim the kids again since I am working two jobs and the kids live with me. The judge said that he can't change the order because of a new ruling that family court can't determine who claims the children. Or something to that effect!

My Question: How do I get this order changed? According to the IRS website it is me who should be able to claim the kids. This is so frustrating because I work my butt off and he gets to claim the kids. He is well off and we struggle so this just isn't fair.

I read something about a new law on the IRS site about this but didn't fully understand it.

    Any help would be appreciated!!

Only the family court can change the court order, you will have to file a motion to remove this from the current order in place.

And not sure why they said this, I did a new court order last month and have the clause in it for claiming the kids.
