    Child support
    My ex-girlfriend & I had a child together & I was thinking of giving up my rights to the child will I have to still pay child support.

    Well you can get that thought right out of your head. Ain't going to happen. No court is going to allow you to relinquish your rights to get out of paying child support.

    I would suggest you browse through this forum, there are hundreds of similar threads that answer your question.

    1) why do you want to give up your rights ?

    2) who do you expect to pick up the tab ? ( taxpayers or new boyfriend ? )

    You will be paying child support, till the chid is old enough 18 to 22 depending on state or until she gets remarried and the new husband wants to adopt.

    You are not forced to visit or have anything to do with child
