Do I have a criminal record?
I was caught with some items in my stroller with my son in a grocery store but no police were called down to the store. I was let go after some paperwork with the store and was told I couldn't shop there for 6 months. Its been a year since this incident and nothing else has become of it and I'm wondering if I have a record or not. I live in BC, Canada I want to enter the US for holidays with my family. Will they know about this? I feel really bad for what I did and learned and will never do it again. This has been bothering me for a year now and is so out of character for me. Nobody else knows about this and I want to keep it this way.

    Hello quick:

No, you don't have a record... You have caught the shoplifting virus, though. Fortunately, it seems to be confined to Canada.

No virus here. Will never do it again. So if I want to be on the PAC committee at my daughters school nothing will come up right?

    Hello again, quick:

I don't think you have to worry.

And, I was kidding about the virus... But, if you did a search here with the word shoplifting, I PROMISE you that 95% of our respondents are Canadians...

I don't know why. Maybe it's the water. Or the snow... Yeah, that's it, the snow.

    Pweff.

It only makes it onto your record if you've been to court right?

    Yeah right, the water LOL

Yes, always that theft under 5000, where are the really big crimminals for a change.

But no there is no record in any police file, now if you ever decide to run for some political office, there are records in a store file that I am sure the news paper would find.

I really appreciate both of you for answering my questions. If I could turn back time I would have made better choices that's for sure. No running for office for me. I would really like to be on the PAC committee but feared getting the Criminal Record check.

Do you think it would be OK for me to shop at the store again or should I not bother with it?

The lady at the store told me something about it being on my license? Does she mean just at that store cause in order for anything to be on my license it would have to go through the police right?

No there is no record, the store computer system most likely showed it so if you went to the store, it would show up
