    3phase generator for 110v system?
I have the opportunity to buy a large 25KVA generator for a great deal. My dental office loses power a few times a year. Sometimes for an hour, sometimes a few. Never know whether to cancel the day's patients or wait for the power to come back on. My question: I have 3 separately metered 200amp panels in my building and would like to have them all covered by the generator. Most of my equipment is 110v with the possible exception of the compressor, vacuum system and heat pumps. I'm not sure to tell the truth. Before I have an electrician come out to eval this further, I thought I'd throw this out there. Here are the specs. Is this possible and/or reasonable? Thanks!

Emergency Back up generator out of Bank.
    Propane fuel
    88 Total Hours
Three Phase power 277/480 volts!! No single phase without using external transformer.
    Nice Panel/Tranfer Switch
Starts and Runs like new, Exercised weekly.
1.2L 4CYL motor large unit. Very industrial generator.
    Model# 95A 00530 S Generac

This is wrong on many levels.

First off, you certainly can get single phase without a transformer. It would just be 277/480v single phase. Not very helpful I know.

In my professional opinion, there is NO WAY it would be worth getting that thing. The installation and parts would be prohibitive with regard to any deal you might be getting on it.
Do you know how much a 25kVA 480-240v step down transformer cost??

You would also need a main transfer switch rated for the full service, which I assume is either 400 or 600 amps, and installed ahead of all the meters.
Price up some gear with those ratings. That genny will not be looking so good.

    Sorry.
