    Hown to hook up dryer?
Hi, I have an older electric dryer(GE). The power cord was removed and I have bought a new one. How does it hook up? On the back of the dryer are 3 wireas red, blk, white. The cord(called dryer power corsd) is a flat 3 wire terminated in screw loops---but not coded all is grey and the contact loops are brass. Is there a standard way to connect?
    Thank you
    Rosie

Flat cord is right side to black left side to red and the center to the white =(Neutral/ground)

As you can see if the center wire with the brass contact loop is placed to the white wire( ground/neutral) then the other two red and black can actually be reversed since they both carry 120 volts per side. The one on each side of the flat connection wire always is hot or red and black. The center wire is always ground or neutral.
