I am a student at Kaplan university and I have a question about hiring based on a background check for my paper.

Is it illegal to hire someone for an applicant that has been charged and served jail time for possession of illicit drugs on one occasion.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "hire someone for an applicant."

Do you mean hire someone, accept an application, hire someone on some else's behalf?

No, it's not illegal to straight out hire someone with a felony record (or misdemeanor record), if that is the question.

What's the topic of the paper?

EDIT: I just realized this is your second homework question in a matter of days. The last question and answer were rather complicated and required some research on my part as well as then putting what I learned into a cohesive post.
