Hi!
I'm wondering what the possible monetary value of a 1981 proof set of coins might be?
The mint mark appears to be "S".
Thanks!

S means SanFrancisco.
Right now the resale value for any coin set is really low. I have been collecting coins my entire life and have a lot of knowledge on the subject.
Your specific set can be bought for about $15.00. But in the past it has been worth more. Due to the current economy prices of any collectibles have gone down, sort of the supply and demand graphic.
Hope this helps.
CLOUGH - I don't know how old she is ,OR how many years she has been collecting < BUT SHE IS WRONG AGAIN : THE PRICE OF SILVER IS WHAT REALLY CONTROLS THE PRICE OF EVEN COLLECTABLES:: NOW I WILL GIVE YOU RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK:: #1_ There were ( 2) types of sets (PROOF) made that year, TYPE (1) THE (s) mint mark was the "S" had a rounded top edge AND
(TYPE 2 "S" HAD A FLAT TOP EDGE) I wonder if she knew that? OKL (TYPE ONE)THE
issue Price was $11.00, Current Value ( $ 9.00
( TYPE 2 - ISSUE price- $11.00< Current VALUE, $ 400.00 With all ^ coins in the set. Take and look with a magnifing glass if youhave to ,but see which set you have ,THE ( TYPE 1 or THE TYPE 2 ) MEANS A LOT; I wish you a very good day and GOD BLESS :: F.B.E.
Thanks for the info, F.B.E. I'll get the magnifying glass out and check it out!
Thanks, again!
