I just had a baby six months ago and I am nursing. I had my first period on December 6th and it lasted 6 days. It was a normal period and I haven't had one since. I have had brown spotting since jan 29th and now it is feb 1st and I still have light brown spotting. My husband and I have not been using any protection so I was wondering if I could be pregnant again or if there is just something wrong with me or if this is normal since I am breast feeding.:confused:

If you have not been using protection there is a very good chance you are pregnant again. However, firstly it takes a while for hormones to regulate after pregnancy, then couple that with breastfeeding and voilà you have doubled your risk for missed or spotty periods.

It may be just normal for you since you are breastfeeding, however, you should probably see your doctor to be sure.

Once you have a gap of more than four hours between the baby nursing on your breasts (pumping doesn't count), nursing can't be considered a reliable contraceptive, particularly once you are past the six months mark and your periods have returned.

So in theory, you could well be pregnant. However, it does take a long time for your body to return to normal after birth and breastfeeding, so lack of period doesn't mean you are.
