Do you or can you file taxes for the 2008 year if you were not employed at all? I understand the last stimulus check was determined by tax filing status (if you did or did not). So I am not sure if another round of checks were to be distributed if I would get one without filing again.

You will not get any recovery rebate even if you file. You must have minimum $3000 of eligible income.

There are procedures to file if you have non-taxable income such as Social Security beneifts or non-taxable disability pay.
