How do you operate a digital meter to find amperage on a hot lead

Plug into 10 Amp if under 10 amps and hook across your power switch. It needs to be inline with the load, On/Off switch is a good spot, 1 lead on 1 side, 1 lead on the other, reverse probes to show negative for a draw if you want.
