    New pressure pump leaks
I installed a pressure pump on the house 3' from the main water feed. Old pressures were 35 lbs static and 27 lbs residual during flow. Now we have 60 lbs residual during flow BUT.... the pump runs for 15 seconds after the flow stops which builds up 80 lbs static. The pop off valve on the hot water tank in leaking now. I did not install any other appliances for pressure control in the plumbing. The house is apx 60 years old. FYI, I installed the pump to improve pressure for a lawn sprinkler system. The pressure is adjusted right where it needs to be for proper coverage of the sprinkler. Thank you for your time.

    Hey Paul,

The average house pressure's 45 to 50 PSI. You've kicked the pressure up too high for a house with old galvanized piping. However you do have options.
    (1) You may reduce the overall pressure at the booster pump control box, (would you like me to show you how?) or (2) if you wish to keepthe same pressure on the sprinklers and you can install a pressure regulator on the house side and drop the pressure to a acceptable level. Good luck, Tom
