    Tax filing
    Hi

I stayed in NJ for till July 2008 and moved to Virginia, working in DC.
My employer running my taxes in NJ and I got W2 on NJ it self.

How to file the taxes in this scenario?

    Need your valuable suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

You should frst complete a tax return for NJ as a part-year resident. You will be taxed by NJ on your earnings for the time you lived and worked there. Then complete a DC return as an non-resident, and finally a VA return as a part-year resident. Your employer should now be withholding DC taxes (and maybe VA as well), but he should no longer be withholding any NJ tax - is he?

Since DC only taxes its residents, it is likely that Mkvrao need only file the VA return.
