Do I have to pay back money given to me to move for a job after they let me go
I started work 3 months ago and my job gave me a 2000.00 moving chk to help me move to where the job is. I sighned a contract that says if I don't last 12 months I would have to pay it back. The first 2 months there I was not trained well so they moved me to a different departmenet 3 weeks later the gave me a written notcie that I needed to be faster at what I was doing. The next day they let me go because I was not fast enough? Do I still need to pay them back for the money they lent me ? They also pay once a month, when they let me go they tolb me that they pay 2 weeks in advance and that the last 2 weeks I worked was already paid can they do that? Is there anything I can do ?

If they let you go I don't see how it should be your responsibility to pay them back. If you had been working for them prior to relocating they should have known how your work was and not have relocated you in the first place.
Are you sure they meant even if they let you go and not just if you went and quit on them?
Are they now telling you that you have to pay money to them? IF so how much are they saying they want?

In the contract I sighned it states that I have to pay the 2000.00 dollars back if I don't last 12 months. The problem I have is that they never gave me a chance to last the 12 months ? After the let me go they told me I have to pay them back the 2000.00 back to them.

    Hello c:

I'll bet you're going to have to pay them back... But, I'll also bet that they are cheating you out of two weeks pay. Nobody pays in advance.. That's crap.

But, let a judge decide these issues. SUE THEM!

Yes you are going to have to pay them back, your side of the story,
    1. not properly trained
2 they said you were not fast enough
    3. you were not given a chance.

I am sure their side of the story,
    1. woud not learn
    2 was too slow
    3. not working to norma standards

So to the company I would assume they beieve they gave you a chance and you did nt work hard enough for their standards

Not sure about the advance, you woud know that where I work I am paid current, If I left today, that paycheck today woud be my last, there is nothing held back.

So pull your pay stubs, count how many weeks you were paid for, and how many you worked

I agree with Fr _Chuck and Ex businesses pay a week behind not ahead.
Do like Fr _Chuck said and count how many weeks you worked and how many weeks your pay stubs say you worked.
The job sounds like a scam to me, like no matter how much or how hard they work we will let them go and then make them pay us back.
I would let it go to court and let a Judge sort it all out but make sure you take everything you can that will be in your favor.

You need the exact wording of the agreement. If it specified that you need to return the moving bonus if you do not remain in their employ for 12 months then you have to return it. If it says you have to return if you LEAVE prior to 12 months, then you don't have to return. Its all in the wording. From what you have said it sounds like it needs to be returned.

As for the pay, You pay stub should state the pay period being covered. So go back over your stubs and check if all your work days were covered.

You signed a contract and the company is going to hold you to it. You will have to pay the $2,000 back. Sorry.
