    Tree Removal/Roots
My husband is cutting down a tree in our yard, but doesn't want to dig up the roots. How can we get rid of the stump and roots so it does not continue to sprout?

The environmentalist will shoot me hear but drill some holes in the roots and put diesel fuel in the holes
Just to help clarifier how tree roots feed The roots right at the tree stump bring the tree nutrients to the actual tree. The tree is watered by the roots where where the outside conapy is mot at the base of the tree however that root system there is the pipe line so to speak to bring is into the tree. I laugh when I see a person watering a tree right at the trunk of a tree that has a 10+ canopy and doesn't,t realize that is not where to water. The big thick roots at the trunk is not what sucks the nutrients in but only deliveries it in to the standing tree below the bark. There is where you should drill to get onto that delivery system

Taking out the trunk really isn't that bad. Ive done it a few times. The trick is to leave as much tree as possible for a lever arm. Then the roots come out fairly easy.

The stump grinder method is another.

It's a little time or money. Whatever you have more of.

I am going to give you a new spin on 21boat's approach, don't use fuel oil just RoundUp. That will insure a dead root shortly, then later the fuel oil. Acytually Hardware store also sell a product that speeds up the decomp process f you don't like flames.

Not to keep posting here but My wife and I actually remembered going to the real hardware store and buying dynamite and blow up a stump. It was very common for farmers to use it also for new field clearing It's a good thing that the ghettos didn't know that in the cities. See how times changed and people. BOOM! Was a blast and needed good common sense and if you blew yourself up the self was stupid no suits
