    Switch to exec assistant position
    Hello,
I have been working in insurance underwriting since 2000. It has always been tough for me, especially because for 5 years I worked with my husband and he always got special treatment. (Got to go to all the agent meetings, etc) Well, now I started a new job and I thought that because I didn't have my husband around to compete with things might be easier. But as it turns out things are just the same as they have always been- nomatter how hard I work I don't feel accepted nor trusted by management.

SO, I'm thinking it's time for a job change. I have a degree in English Lit, so it's not like this was my life calling. I want to get a nice job as an executive assistant, but if they were to read my resume as is, they would say I wasn't qualified and move onto the next one. But insurance is a very complex field, and if I can do it I'm sure I can be an exec assistant, right?

What type of skills should an exec assistant have? I can use a computer well, excel, word, internet, you know, all the basics. I have some experience with payrolls and things like that.

Also, how could I tweak my resume so that it resembles more of an assistants role? For example, I am an underwriter, however I am my boss's assistant. I do tasks for him based on whatever he askes me to do.

Any info you could provide would help. I really need out of insurance!

I often suggest when someone is starting or changing to another career field
That they enlist the services of an employment agency. They are a great advocate
Once you have been background checked by them and tested. Plus, since you
Are not straight out of school but have a large experience background, you
More than likely would qualify to have the interested company/organization
Pay the employment agency, rather than you paying the fee.

They often create resumes for you to take on your interviews and give
Your tips for how to dress, respond to questions, and what not to volunteer
Informationwise. Not to hide anything unseemly, but sometimes in
Nervousness, we say things without meaning to that can be a turnoff
Or put us out of the running.

This is just a suggestion, but I'm sure you could locate a competent
Executive recruiter (employment agency) in your area. From what you
Have stated, you have about all of the expertise needed to be one, and
    Then some.:)
