Do I have to call a repair tech?
Just moved into a house with a Goodman cpke48-18. Initially had to run it on emergency and thought it was because the unit needed some work... replaced the filter, cleaned it, etc. It ran OK on auto, although the air upstairs was definitely cooler than downstairs.

Today, I can hear the fan on in the house but the unit outside isn't doing anything at all... flipped all the breakers and don't know what else to do.

I've always had radiant heat so this type of system is completely foreign to me. We had an ice storm last night, is it possible the unit is frozen up? What do I need to do? Also, I'm guessing that is a different problem from the other one where it was blowing cooler air upstairs.

I know I probably need to call a repair man but if there is anything I can do myself instead, I'd much prefer it.

    It is possible.

If you were running on emergency heat that is strait electric heat and very expensive. You need to have the outside unit (heat pump ) serviced to allow proper operation.
