    Unable to see SharedDocs, WINXP
    Dear Sir/Madam:

Please let me know if you can help me to resolve the issue described below.

    Problem description:

2 computers (desktop with WIN XP Pro SP3 and laptop with WINXP Home SP3) are connected via D-Link router to the " home or small office network".

When attempting to access SharedDocs desktop's folder from the laptop the following error occurs:

Error message: \Computer Name\ SharedDocs is not accessible. You might not to have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator of this server...

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    1. Both computers can see internet
    2. Printer connected to the desktop is accessible from Laptop
3.Desktop shows laptop among workgroup computers, BUT Laptop is not shown on the desktop's Local network list of computers. "Setup of home or small office network is done".
    4. Desktop is shown on the laptop's Local network list of computers, BUT not accessible (see error message above)
4.File sharing is ON for the "SharedDocs" on both computers
    5. Windows firewall is off on both computers
    6. Kaspersky Internet Security is active on both computers

    Thank you for your help,

    Regards
    Alex

    Hi,
In certain circumstances the sharing must be enabled in multiple places, such as the network settings. "Enable..." must be checked. Sometimes the installation of SPs change settings to defaults. Also, try:
    Installing Windows Network.
And scroll down to the appropriate section.
    Peace,
    Clarke
