    99 Buick Century- is there a second relay for window box?
    I have a 99 Buick Century and replaced the electrical window box for the auto windows; it still doesn't work after spending nearly $200 because of the cars age was disappointing.

    When I asked a mechanic friend about it, he said to find out about a "second relay" fuse.

    If anyone could provide help it would be appreciated.

    I'm also not sure if this is affecting the remote keychain opener, as I'm no longer able to lock or unlock the doors remotely even after that battery has been replaced and I've been careful with the device as not to damage it.

    Thanks!

    When you refer to a "window box" what exactly are you referring to? Is the problem with all windows or just one? Does it move at all? Can you hear the motor running when you push the button? Was the switch itself tested?

    It's the electrical "box" in the panel that you control the windows with;

    There's no noise at all

    No idea how to test the item, it was purchased and as are most auto parts non refundable regardless...

    The part appears new and someone with decent mechanic knowledge did purchase the part and install it, so they were stymied too as to why the windows working, didn't.

    Are you having problems with all the windows or just one? Have you tried rolling them down using the other switches on the other doors?

    None will work; when it first started to break it was all but the drivers that were permanently closed... the driver's would creep up then stop and sometimes wouldn't completely close... now not a single one works...

    Not sure if this has anything to do with the remote lock (the keychain basically) no longer working either...

    I never had any of these problems with my old 91 Buick Century

    After looking on another site, I think because no one thus far but a mechanic will divulge this "secret" how to fix this, because it's a money maker... sad but I believe true

    Do you know where they bought the part from? You could have gotten a bad switch, although if the window was "creeping" it sounds like the motor is weak, as well.

    As far as the electrical window is concerned. Replace the actual switch.

    The remote door locks is a different situation. If you have changed the battery in the remote door lock key fob you will need to reprogram it, which is a simple procedure such as pressing the lock and unlock buttons at the same time and holding for 10 secs or until the lock cycles. Different car models vary as to procedure. Check your owners manual for the procedure for your particular model.

    To clarify... The switch I am referring to is the actual rocker switch you use to make the window go up and down.
