    License suspended
Hello, I'm from Ohio. My question is this. My eighteen year old granddaugter received a speeding ticket . At that time she didn't have her insurance card with her, but she had insurance. She had to send in a copy of her card, which she did, but she sent it to the wrong place. She called the Columbus BMV office and they told her it was OK if she resend it to them. She sent it around January 14, and she had until February 2 to get it in. This week she had her car broken into and a lot of things were stolen. She went to the police station where they asked for her license and now she finds out her license is suspended until April and its for non compliance, which is from that insurance card mixup , She sent in her information as requested. Now what? It was the Colunbus office that never put in the information, now can she get her license unsuspended? She is under suspension until April of this year. Does she need an attorney for this? Any information will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Just bring a copy of the insurance and ask that the suspension be dropped.

ScottGem, will it that easy? She will be calling the Ohio BMV today, I really hope it is that easy as she already is suspended and is suppose to pay a reinstatement fee. She already spoke to them on January 13 and that's when they told her it was OK to remail the insurance card in. Thank you for your answer. I will let you know what happens,

Mail, OK if it is not that important that someone can't drive it in person,

And it shoud have been mailed with proof of receipt.

    Hope it works out

Thank you Chuck, yes it will have to be mailed as she lives too far from the BMV in Columbus. She sent it back with the form that they sent her requesting a copy of the insurance card. It is important its just we just don't know why she was suspended, could be they never entered the information on time even if it was sent on time.

Generally if did not have your insurance card with you, just showing proof of insurance will get that part dropped. She may have to pay a reinstatement fee since the suspension has been entered.
