    Changing child's name

I need to change my daughter's last name I was told that I would have to pay like $300.00 dollars in order to get this done, also I was told that I would have to fill out paperwork by myself or pay a lawyer. Or should I wait until my daughter turns 18 in a couple of months?

Please don't piggyback on other people's questions.

It is going to cost a few hundred in a couple of months too. Those are court fees and don't matter what age the person is. If you have consent of both parents, waiting is pointless.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Why do you need to change her name?

She is better off waiting though. To change a minor's name requires approval of both parents. But once she turns 18 she can legally change her name without anyone but a court's approval.
