    Hp L7580
When I try to copy or print, the printer runs two blank sheets through, then gives an error message "out of paper". But it is not out of paper. We have turned it off and on; restarted the computer; but nothing works.

    Try re-installing the printer drivers.

Reinstalling the drivers did not fix it. Any other suggestions.

Did you check the ink cartridges and print heads?

    Did you contact HP support?

Yes to both questions. Installed new ink cartridges and HP was no help.

I suspect that HP may not have provided a solution, but they were helpful giving you things to try. My experience with their tech support was very positive.

Can you print a test page either from Windows or on the printer?

Nothing prints - just one blank sheet feeds through and then another blank sheet feeds through and the display says no paper add paper.

It sounds to me like something is wrong with the paper sensor then. Is the printer under warranty?

No, it was purchased 6-21-07. We have looked for a replacement - the HP 7590?
We need a copier that will copy three dimensional items - like a bead necklace and the 7580 did a good job.

The 7590 is from the same family, so the scanning engine should be the same.

But have you thought of using a digital camera instead? I'm assuming you are using the copies for some sales brochure or the like. A digital camera would create a better image.
