    Almost ready to go
I have bought a Linksys Wireless Adapter to connect to my computer via USB cable. I bought it on eBay, so it didn't come with directions or a CD, but I am not sure if a CD is necessary. I need some help getting connected. Can anyone help me?

If you're lucky it'll just be a simple case of plug it in and you'll be good to go.
If not you may need some drivers, just head over to Linksys and download them.
    Available right here ;)

Umm you bought a wireless adapter? To connect to what? Do you have a wireless router or Access Point (WAP)? A wireless adapter is only one end of the connection. Without the WAP (which may be standalone or buiilt into a router) its like buying a phone and expecting it to work without plugging it into a jack.

I bought a Linksys WUSB11v2.8 on eBay, and the cord separately. I tried installing drivers, but it didn't work. I tried opening the opening the drivers folder and manually starting a setup wizard. It didn't work. I've tried add new hardware, creating wireless network, I've even tried chatting with Linksys support and they couldn't help. I am just unable to utilize driver download. Could it possibly be my connection to the router?

It is an adapter to the desktop computer via USB cord. I bought it on eBay without the CD. I tried to install the Driver through their website, but it hasn't worked so far. It is plugged in and on, my computer just won't recognize it.

OK I'm sorry to say that it sounds to me like it's dead, kaput, shuffled off this mortal coil, no less deceased in short it's had it.

Even when its plugged in your computer should recognise new hardware and ask for drives.
Either that or the cables shot !

Also I do hope you didn't pay much for it as it's old technology.
It's rated as a 802.11b adapter, will only run at a maximum of 11Mbps rather than the more modern 802.11g (54Mbps) or even pre-n (100+ Mbps)

How could I test the cable? The adapter uses power from the computer and is on right now. And my computer is Windows Media Center.

The USB cable I bought had a plastic casing that was to big to fit into the adapter. All I did was shave some of it of so it would fit. It was the adapters design that was to blame. The adapter was was on before, but that was because power was drawn from the tip. I tested this theory on the side that was plugged into my computer. I pulled it halfway out and the adapter light remained on.
