Hunter fan with Hampton Bay remote
I am attempting to install a Hampton Bay remote unit with my Hunter fan. The remote is suppose to be universal and has three speeds plus the light control. The remote instructions clearly state to to hook the black / white power leads to the ceiling power. This is straight forward and not an issue.

The instructions also state to hook the fan wire to the fan output on the remote unit (black box) and the light wire to the light output on the remote unit as well as a neutral. In the canopy I have a black wire, a black wire with a white stripe, and a neutral wire. The fan instructions tell me that the 2 black wires are for single switch or three way operation. I understand what this means, but do not know where to find the fan wire and the light wire.

When I remove the housing ubder the fan (just above the light fixture), there are many wires going to the reverse switch, and both pull chains. They are connected to a single connector housing all the wires. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. I tried this and now the remote works the fan (all 3 speeds) but not the light. I tried with the light pull chain in the on position and the off position and the remote still will not operate the light. Any suggestions?

Try wiring it without the remote and confirm the light works.

From the ceiling, I have a black wire, white wire, and a green ground wire.

From one side of the receiver, I have a black wire and a white wire (for power). From the other side of the receiver, I have a white wire, a black wire, and blue wire.

From the fan, I have a white wire, black wire, and a black w/white wire.

Currently, I have the black and white wire from the ceiling connected to the black and white wire on the inlet side of the receiver. On the outlet side of the receiver, I have black to black, white to white, and blue to black w/white stripe.

The fan works from the remote just fine. The light does not work from the remote. It only works from the pull chain.

Your wiring is correct. Exchange the receiver.
