Attached is my current kitchen sink plumbing situation. Note the dreaded s-trap. I am replacing everything. I wondered if a correct fix would be to:

    1. Continue draining to the left and install a sanitary tee and an air admittance valve between a p-trap and the sewer.

    2. Route the flow from left to right put in a p-trap, pvc pipe and a 90 degree elbow to the sewer. If I did use this fix, what would the recommended pitch be from the p-trap (on the right) back to the sewer (on the left).

My vent to the roof was recently inspected by a licensed plumber and is in good working order.

    Thanks.

    In line:

    2. I meant to say "route the flow from right to left"

    Sorry about the mistake.

I meant to say in Line 2:

Reroute the flow from right to left and install a p-trap, pvc pipe and 90 degree elbow to the sewer.

    Sorry about the mistake.

Please do not start new threads to add info, Just "answer" your original thread with more info.

You then went to report it, making three new threads and a lot of work to correct it.

    Hi Jgnajek:

Option #1 is going to be your best option here. Install the sanitary tee and an AAV... See picture below.

I would also add a full size cleanout (called a test tee or a dandy cleanout).

Let me know what you think...

    Hi Mark,

So, I'll go with option 1. There is a wash machine and utility sink just below the kitchen sink in the basement. There is a full size cleanout installed, so I should be covered there.

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I just wanted to make sure I am doing this right.
