    Do I have criminal Record?
Ummm I was just wondering, I was caught stealing from the company I was working for. They had the police take me in but I wasn't fingerprinted nor had my picture taken. They had a 3rd party company charged me and I paid a fine. Do I have a criminal record?

If you were not convicted by or pled guilty in a court of law, then you shouldn't have a record. But you should check with the court.

Please explain "third party" that charged you.
    Was this a civil issue

What type of "fine" did you pay, was it to the store, as a settlement, or to the city or state.

It is possible for minor crime, that a ticket was written, you would not be fingerprinted, or photo, but would still have the minor offense on your record

You need to explain your question more clearly as to who did what.

Well it was the company's insurance company that charged me, it was to repay them for civil damages.

I think your wording is messing everyone up.

You are "charged" if and when the police are called and you are issued either a ticket or arrested.
If you did not have to pay the fine to the city or state, you were not fined either.

The companies insurance company filed a notice that you were quilty of stealing this, in return for paying them back, they agreed not to press criminal charges. *** at least this is what it sounds like**

So you reached a civil agreement to repay or even repay with extra for their costs.

So this is purely civil, no criminal issues, you were not "charged" and you were not "fined"

I don't think you have a record since you were not convicted of the crime.

Hi Matri. That is a little bit confusing. (3rd party?). Did you receive a piece of paper? To appear in court? I am not an expert but it definitely doesn't sound like you have a criminal background. Not from this. You should check though with the area/town where this happened. There could be a record of a "violation" of some sort but an employer would have to look it up in that specific town I believe. I'm pretty sure as long as you were not arrested, this will not show up on a background check.

I agree with Frchuck - sounds like criminal charges were dropped in exchange for payment to the insurance company.

Depending on who runs the background check and how thorough it is the charge will appear.
