    Shower temp does not maintain
Shower turned to hottest, then slowly temp drops to luke warm. Do not confuse with water doesn't turn hot enough. Starts very hot and drops-does not maintain temp

    Hey coldshower...

Wondering how old the shower head is.. If old and delivering more than the normal 2.5 gallon all newer shower heads use you may be exhausting your supply of hot water needlessly!

If older style shower head then may be a good idea to change out the shower head... not to a lousy water saver shower head... but one that delivers 2.5 gallons per minute... that may help here.

Let us know if older shower head or newer style.. see what we can come up with after that.

    Thanks...

    Mark,
Thanks for answering. Head only 4.5 yrs old. Thinking it's the safety temp therm. Turned all the way to hot, hot starts then temp decreases. If we turn off water, and on again-back to hot and tapers off again.
We have a delta monitor single control, how do I get to the thermastat? And we are having a new septic system put in-lots of rock breaking, loosening up sediment in lines-could it be clogged? Both showers now doing same thing.

    Hi coldshower:

Check out this picture below... should be easy enough to remove the parts and clear the line of any sediment.

There is no thermostat, but there should be a temperature limiting stop (under #1 in pic. Below)... but that should not be the issue as you stated that the issue is occurring at both valves.

Start by shutting the water off to the shower valve(s) and then remove the valve trim and the guts. Once guts are removed, clean them and observe for anything out of the ordinary. Without parts in place purge the valve by turning the water flow on for a second or two and then re-install the parts and see if this helped. If not, you may need to replace the cartridge assembly...

Let me know as you go... ok?
