We've recently built a new home and since we started using the furnace we've heard a very annoying dripping noise in the walls. I've heard from the builder that is caused by the expanding and contracting of the heating ducts, is this true, and if so what I can do about it?

As a carpenter I would say he is probably right and after the home settles after a couple of years either you will get used to it or it will stop trying to stop the noise would be very costly as you would have to rip out the drywall

I understand we would have to rip out the drywall, but then do what?

The builder and/ or HVAC should make you happy,, call one or both ,see if they will try and help you

I make it a very important item to make sure my customers are happy,, if I can`t fix I find someone that can

I've spoke to the builder and he doesn't seem to be very concerned, that' s my point. I am trying to find out what should be done so I can give him specific items I expect him to do. Can you tell me what might actually stop the "dripping noise" Also, it seems to have escalated from one spot to now three different sports in the master bedroom.

If the sound is in the wall what is in the wall heating vents.flue pipe,pluming. If it heating ducks then wall will need to be open to fix.the ducks are to tight to wall and making noise.

I have the same problem. The builder promise to fix it so they cut a hole and told me that the drywall to close to duck, but they refuse to fix it a couple day later and said the noise is normal even they knew this problem. I plan to find a layer. Do you think it can work?
