    How to file a newborn with no social.
    I had my son on Dec. 23rd, 2008. I applied for a social security card for him, but have not received it yet. Can I claim him without having his SSN?

    The child must have SS number before you can claim the child.

    Agreed; you need to wait for the SS card to come.

    Because you have applied for the Social Security number, the child is NOT eligible for an ITIN.
