Hi, I'm 24 years old and a mother of one. I'm currently on the Othro Evra birthcontrol patch, I have been on it for two years. I started my period on Tuesday morning... it was brown discharge all day on Tuesday; it turned into a light flow of bright red blood Wednesday through Thursday. Friday (today) it's very light and pratically gone. I've taken a pregnancy test and it came back negative. I'm still not convinced. What does a period like this indicate? How soon should pregnancy be able to register on a pregnancy test? Could it be the birthcontrol causeing a lighter period? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Birth control can do funny things to your body. I switched from the Depo-Provera shot to the Nuvaring; my periods came back on a regular cycle with the exception for only one month - I spotted that month and like you, was freaking out I was pregnant. I'd say wait patiently for another month and if you still don't have a "normal" period, take another test.

Thank you for your response. I am not having any unsual other happenings. I did have a light period until Friday (but there was some clotting between Wednesday to Friday). I did take another hpt just for good measure and it too came back negative. I am however still slighted freaked out. I mean I did have a period, it was just not usual.
