What is this houseplant with distinctive white dot in leaf centre?
I used to have a beautiful houseplant which had mid-green leaves, almost round but slightly heart shaped leaves. In the centre of each leaf there was a white dot. Its leaves were thick not papery and when it flowered the flowers were small and white. Someone told me it was a dinner plate aralia but all references to that name take me to Polyscias which this definitely wasn't.

Does anyone out there know what the proper name is, I would love to get another one but I've never seen one for sale, I got mine from a friend.

Hi plantcollector... the only plant that I can think of is a... SWEETHEART PLANT.. which comes in several varieties with heart shaped leaves.
Some flower with small brown flowers ,others with clusters of white, not sure about the white dot.
The leaves you describe sound very similar and the plant will grow almost anywhere.
In the UK they are easy to buy, although I haven't seen one for a while.
Not sure of their proper name but I think they come under the LILY HEADING.. or maybe PHILODENDRUM species.

Sorry I couldn't be more acurate.

Sounds like it may be a type of Cyclamen (? spelling? )
