    Hi, JHarmoney!

This sort of question and information about it are addressed on a number of sites. If in the U.S. all or part of your refund may be intercepted to pay for that which is in arrears concerning the child support.

There may be other factors that come into play with this, such as the laws in the specific state where you might be located and other things as well, involving your income, situation and that of your child or children as well as the other parent of your child or children, but I think that if you read and study information that can be found via clicking on the following links, that you'll find a lot of information that can be useful to you.

Tax Topics - Topic 203 Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal Non–Tax and State Income Tax Obligations

FPLS Brochure - Federal Tax Refund Offset Program

Child Support Tax Refund Offset Rule Amended | None | The Child Support Web

Again, all or part of what you will receive in a refund may be intercepted. In the U.S. it's something that's well regulated and may not be something over which you might have any control.

    Thanks!

Get a bigger tax return than you owe in arrearages.

HAHA, yeah... And how do we go about doing this? LOL
I had the same problem when my payments were in arrears. But now that it's under $1000 (?) I think I'm good to go. Also, I think it depends on how much you're getting back. Because last year, I was only getting like, oh, 400 back? They didn't intercept it. But they DID intercept the stimulus check. I was bummed, a lot, but hey, my arrears are lower now!
