Dashboard lights flicker and battery drain
    Good Morning All,

My 99 Honda Accord 6 cyl coupes' dashboard lights (door warning, brake, ABS,and others) all started turning on while driving. If I step on the brake the lights go back off. Also the battery is being drained of power now. It will hold a charge from driving for a short time so I know the alternator is giving it some charge. If I jump the car it immediately responds with the car alarm as soon as I attach the cables and immediately starts up, but after several idle hours the battery is dead again. The battery is relatively new, only a couple of years at most. Any thoughts?

Bad battery, bad ground are the first two that come to my mind. Have the battery checked by a qualified technician and if it is good then start looking for loose wires or bad grounds. Especially grounding issues if you live in the rust belt.

. Clean battery terminals and cable connections.

. Check the alternator and battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

I suspect the alternator is bad.
