please help me. Explain this example step by step. Am having difficulty following the steps.I am in adult education.
The functions of f and g are defined by f(x)=2x=3/x-1 and g(x) =3x+1
(a) calculate f(-1) and g(1/2
(b)Determine the value of fg(1/3)

(a) calculate f(-1) and g(1/2
(b)Determine the value of fg(1/3)
can you write clearer ? f(x) = 2x = 3/x -1 or f(x) = 2x +3/x -1 ?
Anyway, I'll try with f(x) = 2x + 3/x -1
(a) calculate f(-1) and g(1/2)
with this question you just calculate like that
f(-1) = 2.(-1) + 3/(-1) -1 = -2 - 3 - 1 =-6
g(1/2) = 3.1/2 + 1 = 5/2
(b) Determine the value of f(g(1/3))
it mean you calculate the g(1/3) first
g(1/3) = 3.1/3 +1 = 2
then calculate f(g(1/3)) later
f(g(1/3)) = f(2) (cause g(1/3) = 2 which we calculate up there )
=> f(2) = 2.2 +3/2 -1 = 9/2
