    F1 status of kids
    Dear Sir

My wife and myself are in USA on B1/B2 visit VISA. Now I have got admission to an American University in Penselvania state. As a result my VISA status will change to F1 (Student VISA) and VISA status of my wife will also change to FA (as co-applicant).

We have three kids (all under 12 years age) back in our native country with their grand parents. My questions are:

    1) Will our kids also be automatically included to F1 status (as derivative dependants) and may be able to join us in USA during our F1 status period?
    2) What will be procedure for applying for our kids to be included in F1 VISA status?

We will be highly oblighed for a quick response.

    Regards

    Nasim

Is your wife going to school as well? If she goes to school, she must apply for F-1, if not then she is qualified for F-2 (spouse of F-1)

You may bring your children over under F-2 (dependent of F-1), but you must provide to the consul a financial statement that covers expenses of 5 persons for whole term of your study. In US, spouse of F-1 cannot obtain work permit.

If you want to do so, contact international office at your school to obtain I-20 for them. After that apply for non-immigrant visa at the US embassy.
