I'm sure I have no legal recourse since I have nothing in writing, but I want to know how this is acceptable. I accepted a job with my current employer in a paygrade two times higher, going from hourly to salary. After three weeks I find out the Human Resource Dept. decided that I had made a "lateral move" and the paychart would be changed to reflect this. This all stems from some complaints I had made in my previous position, which I almost quit. According to HR I don't deserve to be in this job because no one can say they quit and then stay on, therefore I don't deserve the higher pay. I'm sure it's wrong, but can't find any research to back me up. Thank you.
