Is it normal for a cat to be so clingy
I would just like to know if it's normal for a cat to become very cllingy in later life. My 11 year old cat has become very clingy he will fight me when I try to get him off my lap. He will stiffen his body and refuse to move.

Clingy, yes. But what you describe sounds like more than clingy. I haven't had one fight me when it's time to get up. Could you maybe say a little more about what he does?

There's nothing wrong with your cat clinging to you. He just loves you. I have a 7 year old cat that follows me all over the house. He insists on sleeping under the covers and in my arms every night, and if I don't let him under the covers he meows at me. You should be happy that your cat wants to spend time with you. Most cats are stand offish and want to be left alone. Plus the older a cat gets the lazier they get. All they want to do is eat, sleep and poop. :p

Yes, as they get older they definitely become more interested in getting attention. Laps become more popular. A cat that is friendly to begin with may get kind of annoying in that you can't sit down without a cat in your lap.
