This is one that is still up for debate. I would stick to vitamins that contain folic acid if you are already taking them.

Well, I haven't had much green tea lately considering the fact that I don't know if it is good or bad.
I am still taking prenatals so I am sticking to the folic acid because I know that is good for me.
Did you ever read up on this, Thomas? I thought it was pretty interesting myself and I am still flustered...

The January 2008 issue of Pregnancy magazine had an article on this. They said that green and black teas (black much less than green) inhibit the body's absorption of folic acid. If you are going to drink it, drink it away from meals containing folic acid and certainly away from taking your folic acid supplement. Pregnant women and women trying to conceive should take 400 mcg of folic acid, though many healthcare professionals recommend 800 mcg. Men should also take 400-800 mcg for prostate health.
