    Teen with joint/bone problems
I'm 16 (almost 17) and have been having joint/bone problems. My ankles seem to pop too much and one make a weird clicking sound. My knees tend to grind when bending them. (if you place a hand on my knee when doing it, you actually feel it grind.) Recently, I've been having problems with my hips popping out of place and making loud popping noises.

Have you brought this to your parent's attention? My first impression is that you should be seen by an orthopedic. There could be several potential causes for the symptoms you describe. Each symptom could be unrelated, or all be symptoms stemming from a singular problem. Anything from a simple deficiency to something major, or actually be nothing at all, just something unique to your own physiology.

I don't mean to sound condescending, because I do not pretend to know what your causes may be, but I have seen the "worst case scenarios" first hand, as both my wife (under 30) and my mother (just over 50) are both disabled, due to joint-related illnesses. Yet I myself at age 33 have the same knee and ankle symptoms you have, without there actually being any problem at all (I sound like a bowl of rice crispies when I stretch)

No amount of Q&A here could diagnose what may be going on with your joints and be accurate. I strongly suggest you seek professional assistance.

Yeah, I have talked to my parents and they aren't really concerned with it an the moment. I know my father has had a double hip replacement and my mother has RA.

They said that it could be from me running cross country this past fall, but I doubt it.

My wife and I both were avid runners, I ran CC myself, and excelled in the 1600 and 3200.

Are your hips actually becoming dislocated, or simply 'popping' loudly? I can't seem but to think that I would become EXCITEDLY concerned if my child's leg looked like it was trying to fall off, lol. If these issues concern you enough to pursue further without your parent's support, without causing un-needed stress you could start by maybe speaking with your track coach about your concerns (I'm guessing you are still in school). See what pans out there.

Some times it feels like my hip isn't in place and it will ache and hurt when walking; kind of like a dead leg feeling. Otherwise it pops on a regular basis.

When that does happen, I try to do some light stretches to see if it would help, but it does nothing.
