    Termination of Parental Rights
If I get a lawyer to go to court to terminate the absent parents rights... do they notify them after it's final or before the court date?. I'm worried the absent parent could be vindictive!

Before the court date. You cannot just terminate someone's rights. As a matter of fact, unless they agree, chances are you won't even make it to court. And then only if someone is going to adopt your child.

IF you attempt to terminate parental rights (which you basically cannot do unless someone is standing, ready to adopt) the "absent parent" has to be notified of the Court proceeding in advance in order to appear and protest - same as any other Court procedure.
