    Visitor visa overstayer
My friend needs to travel from New Jersey to Nashville Tennessee via the Greyhound bus. Can anyone say what are the requirements if any? She was told that she needs a valid id with valid time to remain in the country. She does have a valid passport but there is no valid time for her to remain in America. Would this cause a problem or alert authority that she is an overstayer if she tries to purchase a ticket for travel with her passport?

Also, she was told that she can apply for an id to use anywhere within America. Is this possible, and if so, how can she go about it?

She is not eligible to obtain any state issued ID or driver's license. As a foreigner, her passport is the only accepted ID.

She should avoid domestic flights.. I have seen immigration officers escorted overstayed visitors out from the check in point several times during the year 2007, especially at international airports.
