    Meniere's Disease and Sea Sickness
I was recently diagnosed with Meniere's Disease (Stage 2). Hearing Loss, Tinnitus, Hyperacusis are more problematic for me than vertigo. I have recurring episodes of vertigo that last only a second or so and my vertigo can best be described as a general sense of unsteadiness that is sometimes better, sometimes worse, usually related to how much salt I have eaten. My question is whether my symptoms will necessarily be worse if I go on a cruise to Alaska or should they remain about the same. Thank you.

It is difficult to give you the advice you need regarding going on a cruise with this type of inner ear condition, Menieres. I would suggest you ask your doctor and I have provided a good website for you which outlines what to do during an attack, medications you can ask your doctor about and general information.

I have Meniere's Disease and have been on several cruises with no ill effects. In fact, I think it is an advantage because I have never been seasick even in very rough water. Jim
