I have a 5 ton Goodman electric unit and need to know if the thermostat is wired correctly.
Red to red, green to green, white to w1/w2, purple to C, jumper from w1/w2 to otc and jumper from w2 to ot-1. Is this correct?

Need to know the model numbers,, on both the equipment and the tstat

Model # for Goodman 5 ton is A61-20 and thermostat is a hunter digatal and I don't know serial or model #.

The reason I am asking if the wiring is correct or not is that I was told the reason my heating bill [NOT AC bill] is so high, that my wiring may be incorrect. Is the wiring incorrect or is it because of the STAT?

Hunter thermostats, when securely glued to a clay target are good for trap shooting... and that's about it.

Use one under the leg of that wobbly table.

Ufkan.Hard to determine if it's wired right by your description... But is this a heat pump you have or just electric heat? Matching the thermostat to the heater is important. And the only thing I see is that you have W1 and W2 wired together. If you have a two-stage furnace this is making both stages come on at once. Is your furnace running continuously? Is the house being kept adequately heated? And what is the difference between July and January in respect to the bill? And where you live also affects these matters. The more info you supply the better we can help you.

Sounds like you need a service call first to check the charge in your heat pump and to make sure it is heating, not cooling. I suspect that either the charge is low or the unit is in the cooling mode... or both. The resistance heat is coming on because the heat pump can't keep up for one reason or another. The reversing valve could be stuck.
And check the "sticky" at the beginning of this forum. I suspect your thermostat is wired incorrectly as well. W1 is the heat pump, and W2 is the resistance heat. They shouldn't be wired together. But if your 2nd stage IS coming on and still not heating, I suspect your air conditioning is coming on as well... cancelling each other out. Pull the wire off W2 and see what the temp of the air coming out of your vents is... I'll bet it's cold.
