Does holding baby upside down cause brain damage?
While most babies love active play and flying like an aeroplane why on earth would you want to hold a baby upside down?
I am sorry but would never dream even in playing to hold any youngster upside down I think it is just common sense without taking a look into any dangers this could cause.
Toddlers and babies like to be bounced on your knee or lifted into the air, although it is best to be gentle with young children to avoid any accidental injury.
Hope this helps
Hi, valvizi!
It might. And, I do agree with the above answer.
Is there a particular reason that you're asking the question, please?
Thanks!
It really should not cause any brain damage if done for only a minute or less. This would be the same if you put your baby into one of those swings and kept it up for hours and hours at a time having the child swing back and forth.
How old is the baby?
Are you holding the baby upside down just because or for some form of play or exercise? If your doing it just because them be careful that you don't drop him or her and here is an article about exercises that require your baby be hold upside down.Making Smart Babies - SWINGING, ROCKING, SPINNING, ETC. - by Brillbaby
Also remember that while the baby was in your stomach they were upside down most of time so I don't see connection with brain damage but I don't know actually what your doing either.
I just can not get the concept out of my head - the title of the thread / questin says it all !
If for one minute it has crossed your mind that brain damage could occur why on earth would you do it ?
My kid is 6 months old and I've been gently putting him upside down since he was 3 weeks old... and no problem! He loves it and giggles out loud. Bottom line is... your kid has been upside down since the 16-19 week in the womb. Given this is a controlled environment but gravity is still acting on the baby. As long as you're safe and support the child's neck and head... I think its safe.
Why would you want to,that's the question!
Whatever may be the reason. Answer is, it doesn't damage.
