Can Spouse Claim Me As Dependent?
I received no taxable income in 2008 because I was on Ohio Workmen's Comp. My wife's income supported our family so can she claim me as a dependent? If not, what's the best way to file our taxes to get the most back? Thanks! ;)

No, spouse is never a dependent. You can file joint return. Read Your U.S. Tax Return: Filing Status for Married

Actually, she CAN claim your exemption if she files Married Filing Separately and you do NOT file a return.

But WHY would she want to do that? Filing jointly provides more favorable tax rates PLUS your personal exemption PLUS a joint standard deduction of $10,900.

In almost ALL cases, filing jointly makes more sense.
