Rental agency and all of their million fees (pet, cleaning, blah blah)!
I want to know if what's going on in my new rental is legal? I just went through the process of finding a house to rent in FL. I understand that there will always be fees , etc. My 1st question is... can the rental agency charge a non-refundable pet fee of $250 for "each" pet? Is this legal? I have a 5 pound dog and a 12 yr. old cat. Both potty trained, crate trained, house trained, etc. This will cost me $500 for two pets that won't ever make a mark!!

My 2nd question/problem is... I just went to do the walkthrough today. They assured me it would be ready for move in. I'm being charge in my security deposit: $40 for painting, $175 for cleaning, and $175 for carpet cleaning. Well, here's the huge problem... The walls weren't touched with a speck of paint, it's obvious from the scuffs, marks, handprints, etc. The house wasn't cleaned. And the entire house is porcelain tile throughout, and it's even filthy!! So everything that's being charged is not being taken care of! Not to mention I had people and arrangements to move tomorrow and I now refuse to move into these situations. So, now I've been paying rent and can't even move in yet. All this money is being wasted!! Can I ask for them send in the pros that they're charging me for to come take care of all this, or to waive these fees and I'll clean the damn thing myself? And they should pro-rate my rent as well!!

They are charging you to paint and clean an apartment before you move in?

    And you agreed?

You don't pay to make it ready to move in, that is their obligation or you just don't rent.

Yes they can do pet fee's.

I would run away from these people as fast as you can. You don't pay to get a place ready to rent, if you leave it bad, you are charged that when you move out.

Sorry, I guess I explained some of that a bit unclear. We're being charged these fees in the deposit, I suppose for when we move out in a year. As did the renters before us, but this stuff wasn't done, so where did their money go? So what I'm saying is, they shouldn't be charging me or others if the work isn't going to be done.

I guess if you are silly enough to agree sign this, but a deposit is suppose to be refundable if you leave it in good condition.
That will not be known till you move out.

I would never rent from this place
