That should not have happened if the check valve was working properly on the well line. The pump should have maintained pressure in the well casing. Is this a deep well pump or a shallow well?
I'm not sure what set up you have so I posted a website that should get you going post back and let me know how you made out this site should cover a lot

Boat nailed it. You should not have lost poressure by simply replacing a faucet. This points to a faulty foot or check valve. Have it looked after. To prime your pump Turn off the powerand locate a small threaded opening on top of the impeller cage housing. This will have either a plug or a gage installed. Remove and fill the housing to overflowing. Replace the plug'gage and start the pump. This should prime your pump. If you can't fill the pump housing to overflowing then you have a foot/check valve that has to be replaced. Good luck and thank you for rating my answer. Tom
