I have a Hunter Fan (Palermo: model#21618), and have a defective receiver. I have purchased the Hunter replacement All-Fan Remote Fan and Light Control (model#27185).

The problem is this:

Fan has seven wires (white, black/wht, green, red, pink, grey, yellow)

The new reciver has five wires (green, red, black, white, black, white) - which are all labeled as "neutral-in", "live-in", "common ground", "fan out", "light out", and "common out".

The instructions do not tell what any of the colors go to (example: pink =?? )

Has anyone had the pleasure of replacing this receiver unit? Which wire colors from the fan go to the ones labeled on the new receiver?

You can't use this replacement receiver. Return it, order the correct replacement receiver from Hunter.

The deeper that I get into this issue, the more I want to use the #27185 receiver. I have spoken to Hunter "Not-So-Technical" department three times. I guess that I just don't do very well with the phrase "you cant..." without reasoning - and Hunter technical (even the supervisor) did not give me reasons. The receiver, by nature takes a signal from the remote and converts that to a regulation of power (from my house) to deliver to the fan motor. One of the wires that are coming out of the fan have to supply the fan motor with power. My receiver has a lead marked "fan out" - if I knew the pin out (or wiring schematic) of this fan, I could then pair these two wires up and move on to the next. However, the technical people at Hunter said that information was proprietary - are you kidding me?
Yes, I am trying to take the cheap way out. The easiest resolution is to do what you say, and send $55 plus shipping to Hunter for the receiver ($40) and new remote ($15), but if I can't fix this unit I may just toss it away just out of principle.
Any idea of ways to test the wires, and which function of the fan that they go to?

The Hunter receiver has electronics required for fan operation (capacitors, the reverse function) while the aftermarket receiver does not. You can't do it.
